This Week (Fahrenheit 451)

This week, our class has been reading the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
So far I'm up to page 35 and the main character, Guy Montag, has been experiencing internal conflict about his job and the justice and morality of the society he's living in.
It starts when he meets a teenager named clarisse, who sort of pollutes his mind with liberal ideas.
She later dies of a car crash though... thats again... depressing.
Anyways, the book has been great and enjoyable so far, and i look foward to reading more of it next week.

My Favorite Author

My favorite author is Jordan Sonneblick
I love his writing style! especially how he mixes humor in with the story
My favorite book by him is Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie
It is about the life of Steven Alper after his brother is diagnosed with leukemia.
A sequal, After Ever After, was released in 2010. (the protagonist being Steven's brother, Jeffery)
Another author im starting to like is Cormac McCarthy
I've only read two of his novels so far, but his novels have been interesting and....... depressing.

This Week's Reflections

First of all, sorry its late....
finally got my google account back!
Over the last two weeks, we have been on our school graduation trip in Malaysia/Singapore
The trip was fun at times, but there were also some not so great moments.
During this trip, we were suppose to "experience" foreign cultures etc.
However, we didnt really learn their cultures. I guess if you count watching a man harvesting fruits or collecting rubber counts... then sure. But we didnt really learn about the more important stuff. For example, instead of sleeping in a local village or visiting our sisters schools, we should've spent more time exploring the city or learning the history of the Malaysia.
Anyways, enough with the negative stuff. It was fun to spend two weeks with my classmates! I did learn some things (Newater, we visited some museums, etc.)
During the trip, I read North and South (By Elizabeth Gaskell)
The novel was... well to put it..... it was pretty boring at the beginning, but towards the end it became more interesting. I have to admit, i was happy for them when the author hinted that they were gonna get married
If I had to rate it from one to ten, it would be a 6.
